Seven sites opening in December for The Gym Group with further expansion in 2026

London, 17th December 2025: The Gym Group, a leading high value, low cost, nationwide gym operator, will open seven new gyms in December, as it meets its target for 16 gym openings in 2026. The openings include four locations in London (White City, Camberwell, Old Kent Road, and Loughborough Junction) and three gyms in Midsomer Norton, Manchester, and Bradford.

December’s four openings in London reflect the continued site opportunities in the capital, and The Gym Group now operates over 80 gyms across the Greater London area. The final three openings of the year (Midsomer Norton, Manchester, and Bradford) will bring the total estate to 260 sites, just three months after The Gym Group celebrated its 250th gym opening milestone in Tunbridge Wells.

Prioritising quality sites that will deliver sustainable growth ahead of January’s fitness demand, the new gyms opened in December benefit from gym interior design upgrades that began this year. These upgrades include a focus on a more modern design aesthetic and zoning gym areas to highlight the range of quality fitness equipment, increasing the appeal to the important Gen Z demographic.

Supporting this expansion is a healthy pipeline of well-located properties in urban residential areas, including retail parks and mixed-use developments, selected through a disciplined, data-led approach. This ensures each site delivers long-term value for members and landlords, reinforcing The Gym Group’s role as a trusted partner in regenerating local communities and delivering on its mission to bring flexible, affordable fitness to more people around the country. The 16 new sites this year have all been funded from free cash flow, and The Gym Group will accelerate its roll out in 2026.

Hamish Latchem, Chief Property Officer for The Gym Group, commented:

These latest openings across the UK reflect the strength of our model. Accessible fitness is now part of the social infrastructure of communities, driving dependable footfall, and supporting the health of our towns and cities. With a strong pipeline of quality sites and a team focused on disciplined site selection, we remain committed to our Next Chapter plan, accelerating quality new sites and delivering sustainable growth.

As we look to 2026 and beyond, our focus remains on expansion that creates lasting value for both our members and the properties we operate within. With the refreshed look and feel of our gyms, we are ensuring that we deliver that great value proposition to our members as well as meeting the continued demand of high value, low cost gyms.
